Kolipo, RoN isn't dead! There are more players now then before, just old good players left to play new games thats all. You will find new friends/players if you will keep playing RoN, just dont give up. ;)

I've been playing a long time but I wish it was how it was a while back when I first started when all the pwnage players were still active.

Even the clans like PCA, TuF, and a couple others but it was definetly the best time of RoN.

well i certainly wont miss you guys go be depressed somewhere plz.

Until a better game arrives there will always be a RoN community - but it's small.

Why is it small - games too hard for folk who can't think. Also, takes soooo long to get good at it (others opinion of 'good' has been noted to be a considerably lower standard than I've seen play this game)

New players get 20 questions, boots, called noob, etc etc from dickheads in lobby and staging who are only inters at best. New players then leave for a game/community that isn't completely full of itself.

But im so good! ;P I mean everyone wants to play with me, but them noobs just dont reach up to my level of brilliance in this game!

Really how could they believe they would ever stay in a game with me longer than 1 second till the boot comes?

Oh im so good!

Watch replays to improve micro? P Lolol

Just practice and play yourself, try retreating units that are low hp in battle and sending your horses to his FA and retreating the horses when his HI comes to get em =) That kinda shit you just need to practice, its mostely about speed ^^

[quote92140624c2="kolipo"]does anyone know how i ccan train at my micro or improve it?[/quote92140624c2]

-Practise unit management try to micro units as type groups in big battles and use those units against what they are strong against (also use control groups, it's a lot easier to manage your patriot if you got in on control group 1 for example, artillery on control group 2, Archers on control group 3 etc. (it's just a frigging pain trying to click those 2 cannons in the middle of a huge army manually -_-))
-Focus firing/attacking In battles if you wish your HIs for example to attack only opponent HCs, hold on shift and right click the HCs one by one in the order you want the HIs to attack the HCs (this is called focus firing, it can be really effective if your opponent won't pull back his HCs)
-Practise macroing means that you try to do as many things by hotkeys without actually having to look the city where you are building villagers and waypointing them into the mine for example, and try to do that as fast as you can so you can do it while you're raiding your opponent. Remember that all the extra time you have, you can be microing your units p
-Pulling back damaged units you don't really see this being used much on RoN but when you see you having units with hp on red, you really should pull them back and put them into your stable, barracks, city or whatever. You really don't want to go into battle with all units damaged and suddenly you notice your army is dead and your opponent is spamming some ghey taunts at you.
-Setting your own personal preferences Try to remind all your hotkey and change them if you think some other key might be better (I myself changed find scout hotkey to Spacebar and it helps me a lot with scouting). It's very important to use hotkeys since it saves you a whole bunch of time, and you can manage your units instead of clicking minimap, clicking TC, clicking build villager, clicking a woodcamp and clicking minimap again. Also change the screen scrolling ideal to yourself, I myself prefer the fastest mouse screen scroll there is, just that when you get used to it, it saves you a lot of time. And from windows settings you can change your mouse's sensitivy, try putting that ideal to your playing also, it helped me a lot when I changed it, might help you too.

and also in RoN, microing isn't really that important, more important is multitasking, macroing and booming
I hope this helps, I haven't been playing much of anything lately so I might be forgetting a whole bunch of stuff, so forgive me if I did

Good tips nuuk but one terminology thing

[quote41a79a2dd2]-Focus firing/attacking In battles if you wish your HIs for example to attack only opponent HCs, hold on shift and right click the HCs one by one in the order you want the HIs to attack the HCs (this is called focus firing, it can be really effective if your opponent won't pull back his HCs) [/quote41a79a2dd2]

This is actually the opposite of focus firing. Focus firing would be like telling all 10 of your arquebusiers to shoot at one HI, then telling all 10 to shoot at another, and so forth. It's terrible in RoN because the game reduces the attack if two of your units attack the same units (i.e. one HA takes two shots to kill a vill, but you need 3 HAs to kill a vill in one shot). In other games like AoE for example you could just build an army of 100 chariot archers and they would kill everything before the enemy could close it on them because the archers can focus fire each unit and kill them in one shot before they can attack.

Whereas by shift-clicking you are acutually manually telling each unit to attack a different unit (you're telling all 10 to attack one unit, then 9 to attack another unit, then 8 to attack another unit, the net effect being that you are basically individually controlling all units). That is the efficient way to do it in RoN.

Rambozo

13-09-2005 13:58:16

Excellent advice fellas.

Add forced march into and out of battle. Say you've shift clicked your units as above - now force march em to carry out their orders. Very deadly.

Scout ahead when you attack saves you having to manouvre round towers or running into choke points etc.

Hotkeys, as nuuk said, for macro - I'm still trying to memorise and use new ones. A slower player can compete with a click freak using hotkeys effectively.
