Anything they show right now will be eye candy... it's all about generating excitement and notoriety for the game. My suspicion is that it'll be as good as ron packaged w/ multiplayer that's good too.

i dont like the first screenies at all - story and scenario either, but im sure gameplay is as great as ron.

that's true stumpy but AOE was kickass good.
Try conquerors for a feel of the series (should be in bargain bins) and be prepared to micro villies yourself.

i played conquerors for ages since it came out to when RoN was released, then i realized there was online play for Conquerors ..
but i was too hooked out RoN to go back =\
